Ongoing maintenance and support
Heartwood Care
Ongoing technical maintenance. The least glamorous thing we do, and the one that decides whether everything else still works in year three.
Systems do not stay built
This is the module organisations skip, and it is the reason nonprofit technology has such a poor reputation. A system is delivered, it works, everyone is pleased — and then nobody patches it. An integration breaks silently. A certificate expires. A plugin stops being supported. Two years later the organisation concludes that the software failed, when in truth nobody was looking after it.
Care exists because building without maintaining is not a favour to anyone.
What it includes
- Security patching and version updates
- Uptime and error monitoring, so we notice before you do
- Regular backups, and tested restores
- Integration health checks
- A named person to contact when something breaks
- Small changes and improvements as your work changes
- An annual review of whether the system still fits
Why we test the restores
Almost every organisation has backups. A surprising number have never tried restoring one. The discovery that a backup has been silently failing for eight months is usually made on the worst possible day.
Part of Care is periodically restoring your data somewhere safe and confirming it actually comes back. It is dull work and it is the difference between an inconvenience and a catastrophe.
What you end up with
- Systems that still work in three years
- Problems found before they reach your staff
- Backups that have been proven, not assumed
- Someone to call who already knows your setup
Delivered by an independent implementation partner we refer you to, chosen for what your organisation needs. Every engagement begins with a free Groundwork assessment.
